Carpenter ants have found the aging decks, the wood window frames and the fascia boards behind the downspouts, and the sign is the fine sawdust below a gap in the trim. Pavement ants nest under the driveways and trail into kitchens. The neighbourhood is on higher ground than the river lowlands and is drier, so earwigs are more a mulch-and-grading problem than a groundwater one. Bed bugs appear in the apartment buildings along Westmount and Highland and occasionally in houses after travel. The work in Forest Heights is mostly seasonal: a spring perimeter treatment, wasp nests as they appear, fall sealing before the mice move. Travel inside Kitchener is not charged.
